The producers of the Kajal Aggarwal-starrer Paris Paris, the Tamil remake of Queen, have approached the Revising Committee of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) after the board in Tamil Nadu demanded cuts.
According to a statement from the film’s spokesperson, the CBFC wanted the blurring of scenes as well as audio and video cuts in the film. They demanded changes to four scenes and 25 shots, and the filmmakers have approached the revising committee against this and are awaiting a response.
The statement said that the Kannada and Malayalam versions of the film, starring Parul Yadav and Manjima Mohan respectively, have been cleared with a UA certificate, but the censor board in Tamil Nadu has demanded cuts. The film is also being remade in Telugu with actress Tamannaah.
The Tamil remake of the Kangana Ranaut-starrer follows the story of a girl from Virudhunagar who goes on her honeymoon alone after her marriage breaks. Manu Kumaran, the producer of the film, in a report by Times of India, said, “They had a problem with showing cleavage and using cuss words. The film is about how a small-town girl goes to Europe and discovers herself. She is modest and conservative but meets another girl who is the exact opposite. The French girl’s carefree spirit and her acquaintance helps the heroine, Kajal’s character, find herself. How can we tone down this?”
Co-producer Parul added, “The Hindi film was given a UA certificate. There weren’t issues in Kannada or Malayalam. I don’t understand why the censor board has so many objections when it comes to Tamil.”

Paris Paris is directed by actor-filmmaker Ramesh Aravind and also stars Elli Avram, Vinaya Prasad and Bhargavi Narayan in important roles. The film started production in September 2017, but faced delays due to the producers’ financial issues. It is now complete and ready for release.
The Kannada version titled Butterfly is also directed by Ramesh Aravind, and That is Mahalakshmi in Telugu is by Prasanth Varma, Zam Zam in Malayalam is by Neelakanta Reddy.
Amit Trivedi, the composer of the original, is composing for the remakes as well.
