Producers Council Thanks Vijay Sethupathi, Nayanthara, Karthi For Giving Filmfare Awards A Miss

The Nadigar Sangam has thanked actors Vijay Sethupathi, Nayanthara, Karthi and Kushboo Sundar for not being a part of the Filmfare Awards event in Hyderabad.

Through a press release, the Nadigar Sangam said that award functions and dance shows generate huge revenue from the participation of actors and actresses but these benefits are not extended to the artistes.

“Either all the actors and actresses who participate in the events should be compensated or some part of the amount should be donated to a trust fund run by the Nadigar Sangam. This will be used for the welfare of artistes and other technicians who are in need. This decision has been communicated clearly to Filmfare Awards organisers. But, they were not ready to cooperate. So, we decided to boycott the ceremony,” the statement read.

“We are thankful to Nayanthara, Kushboo, Vijay Sethupathi, Karthi and others who boycotted the event. With your cooperation we will be able to help the poor technicians. We also request the other stars to follow the same in the future,” added the statement.

According to a report in The News Minute, “Filmfare pays artistes who perform on stage, but sources in Nadigar Sangam say that the demand for money from private award shows was made as many from the industry who are neither performing nor receiving awards, take part in such shows.”
