A source close to the film said that actress Aishwarya Rajesh was initially approached for an important role, but she had to opt out, and Priya Bhavani Shankar was approached. An official announcement may be made soon.

The spokesperson for the film also told Silverscreen that the shoot will begin in the first week of August as planned. “We are in the process of organising everyone’s schedules right now,” he said.

Priya, last seen in director Nelson Venkatesan’s Monster co-starring SJ Suryah, is busy with a line of films including Kasada Thapara, Vaan, Kuruthi Aattam, a film with Jiiva and Arulnithi, and also the recently-announced sequel of Indru Netru Naalai.

Kamal Haasan is currently hosting the reality show Bigg Boss Tamil 3. The Indian 2 team planned to set aside 15 days for Kamal’s makeover before shoot, and there were reports last week that this will result in further delays and Shankar will begin work on Mudhalvan 2, but sources said this was not true.

Shankar is in talks with actor Vijay and Arjun Sarja for the sequel of Mudhalvan, and the film is likely to begin after Indian 2. The rest of the cast and crew is yet to be finalised.

Kamal Haasan earlier said that Indian 2 would be his last project before he enters full-time politics. However, he has just announced his next movie – Thalaivan Irukkindraan, a big-budget film that was shelved, but has since been revived. AR Rahman tweeted yesterday that he is on board. The tweet is trending and has left fans excited. Kamal and AR Rahman last worked together 19 years ago in Thenali.
