The bio in the fake profile mentions that it is a parody account. But it is very similar to Priya’s own handle and has close to 500,000 followers with approximately three tweets every day.

The actor said, “Dear fake profile! I understand your excitement and responsibility in posting something. But please don’t make it as your duty to embarrass me on an hourly basis. Thanks but no thanks.”

The admin of the parody account recently shared a picture with SJ Suryah, Priya’s co-star in her latest release Monster, thanking the audience for the compliments for her performance.

In October last year too she had asked followers not to believe tweets from any other handles. In a video, she said, “This account – @priya_Bshankar, is my original Twitter account. I spotted a lot of fake IDs in my name. So to avoid confusion, we are planning to get this account verified very soon. Sorry for the inconvenience caused by fake accounts. Hope to get the issue resolved soon.”

Priya Shankar, who has a huge fan base in Tamil Nadu, became popular with the serial Kalyanam Mudhal Kaadhal Varai, and later made her film debut with Meyaadha Maan (2017), and acted in Pandiraj’s Kadaikutty Singam (2018), co-starring Karthi.

She has been getting positive reviews for her performance as Mekala in last weekend’s Monster. The film was directed by Nelson Venkatesan and starred SJ Suryah, with Karunakaran, Anilkumar, Cheenu Mohan and others in important roles. She is currently working on two upcoming films. Kruthi Aattam directed by Sri Ganesh features her with actor Atharvaa in the lead. Vaan, written and directed by RA Karthik, starring Dulquer Salmaan, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Kriti Kharbanda along with Priya Shankar is also under production.
