Malayalam filmmaker VK Prakash’s next, a short film titled Prana has featured the film’s trailer at the on-going Cannes International Film Festival. The short film stars South Indian film actress Nithya Menen.
A report from the Times of India suggests that the trailer has gained much popularity. The trailer is being screened for the last three days at different venues of the film festival. Praana will experiment with surround sync format for the first time in world cinema.
The film will be made in Malayalam, Hindi, Telugu and Kannada language. Director VK Prakash has previously made films in Hindi, Telugu and Kannada other than Malayalam. The National Award Winning filmmaker’s last film Careful was a remake of the 2016 Kannada film U-Turn but failed to impress the box-office in Kerala.
The cinematography of Praana is done by PC Sriram, who is returning to Mollywood after a long gap. Sriram has helmed the camera for 1985 Malayalam movie Koodum Thedi. Giving prime importance to sound and music, Praana has roped the ace sound designer of the country, Oscar winner Resul Pookutty.
Acclaimed Jazz musician Louis Banks will be the music director for this short movie. The movie is expected to release by August. Post-production works of the movie are on progress at Rasool Pookutty’s studio in Mumbai.
