Director Pooja Bhatt recently tweeted in defence of Priyanka Chopra in the ongoing controversy surrounding a recent episode of Quantico.

Slamming social media trolls Pooja Bhatt said: “When Priyanka Chopra makes a mark for herself Internationally we claim her achievements as our own & then threaten to ban her films & make her apologise for a work of fiction that has been created by someone else. Can we please attempt to be larger than that?”

In the episode, Priyanka, an FBI agent tracks a terrorist plot by spotting a ‘Rudraksha’ identifying him as a Hindu. Hindu nationalism and violence in Kashmir were the issues of the summit targeted by the terrorist in Quantico.

On Sunday, after the rapid fire of too many online criticisms, Priyanka tweeted an apology. ““I’m extremely saddened and sorry that some sentiments have been hurt by a recent episode of Quantico. That was not and would never be my intention. I sincerely apologise. I’m a proud Indian and that will never change,” she wrote in her tweet.

Priyanka’s statement came two days after the ABC Network declared her of having nothing to do with the plot. According the Network, “She has no involvement in the casting of the show or the storylines depicted in the series. Quantico is a work of fiction. The show has featured antagonists of many different ethnicities and backgrounds, but in this case we inadvertently and regrettably stepped into a complex political issue. It was certainly not our intention to offend anyone.”

The show is been cancelled by the ABC Network due to the fall in rating and it will be gone off air after the completion of third season.
