Petta Movie Stills Starring Rajinikanth

The Rajinikanth-starrer Petta, directed by Karthik Subbaraj, has been getting exciting responses from fans since its release yesterday. As the trailer had suggested, people’s thalaivar from the 80s and 90s was back on screen.

For the the second time in cinema, a Rajinikanth film released on the same day as Ajith’s. In August 1995, Ajith’s Rajavin Parvayile, also starring Vijay in the lead, released with Rajini’s Hindi film Aatank Hi Aatank.

However, this was the first time their Tamil films released together, and as of day 1, Petta has the box-office lead with a collection of Rs 1.12 crore in Chennai alone. Viswasam has collected Rs 0.88 crore in the city, making it the highest that an Ajith film has earned so far.

#Rajinified, #PettaParak, #MassMaranam, and a Keep Calm poster now and then, have been the trends on social media for some time now. Most audience responses have said that the film is an extraordinary family entertainer. And some have even said that just the first fifteen minutes of the film is worth the money spent.

Here are some of the best social media reactions from fans and movie-goers.

Meanwhile, many celebrities were excited about seeing their thalaivar on screen. Actors Karunukaran, Mahesh Babu, Sivakarthikeyan, Ashok Selvan, Harish Kalyan, Goutham Karthik, Kasturi Shankar tweeted their responses to the film.

They said that the Rajinikanth they loved for his humor, dance and style was back on screen. Praises for Karthik Subbaraj poured in. This was the best tribute from a fan to a star, they said.

Petta is a lengthy film with a run-time of 173 minutes, but it has certainly not bored its audiences.

However, speculations are rife that the filmmakers are planning to trim the film, to reduce its length by 20 minutes. The director is said to be waiting for Rajinikanth’s nod to make this move.
