While it is common for fans of Rajinikanth to celebrate the release of their star’s film with palabhishekam, massive cutouts and hoardings of the actor, and fireworks, Anbarasu, a die-hard fan of Rajini, chose to wed on the release day of Petta. Anbarasu and his fiancée Kamatchi, tied the knot at the Woodlands theatre in Royapettah, Chennai on Thursday.
The wedding was headed by Sinora Ashok, the organiser of south Chennai’s Rajini Rasigar Mandram. Rajini fans who flocked the theatre to watch the movie were witness to the celebrations which were performed as per traditional Hindu rituals. Food was then served to those who were present during the ceremony. The newly-wed couple was also bestowed with gifts by the fans and fan clubs who had come to watch Petta.
Celebrations also included folk art performances like Mayilaatam, Oyilaatam and other dances ahead of the wedding. Reports also surfaced of another wedding held in Thanjavur yesterday along with the release day celebrations of Petta.
Rajinikanth’s films are always marked by massive celebrations and fan frenzy leading up to the release. During the release of Sivaji, fans showed their love for the actor by shaving their heads. and when Enthiran released, they wore tattoos on their shaved heads.
