PC Sreeram Files Complaint Against Former Office Bearers Of SICA

PC Sreeram, the president of the South Indian Cinematographer’s Association (SICA), has filed a complaint against former office bearers of the Association, accusing them of fraud and tax evasion. The petition has been lodged with the Chennai police commissioner, and names G Siva, former general secretary, NK Viswanathan, former president, and KS Selvaraj, former treasurer.

Speaking to Silverscreen, PC Sreeram said: “We decided to contest the elections for the SICA posts this year, because a large section of cinematographers had asked us to enter. Under the former team’s leadership, nothing concrete had been done to help improve the condition of the Association. There were several complaints of embezzlement and fraud against the former team.”

Sreeram also says that Viswanathan, Siva, and Selvaraj had usurped the top posts in the association without formal elections. “They were not the rightfully elected members. Nothing resembling an election was held in the eight years they occupied the top positions.”

According to the petition, the former office bearers also bought a piece of land for the Asssociation for an amount exceeding the Government prescribed land rate. Allegedly, no regular tax payments were made or accounts records maintained.

The police will launch an investigation into the case at the earliest.
