According to reports, Varthamanam, scripted by award-winning writer Aryadan Shoukath, is based on the issues faced by college students in Delhi. A few north Indian actors are also part of the cast. Alagappan is the cinematographer on the project, and Vinesh Banglan is the art director.

Sidhaarth Siva, who is best known for his award-winning movie 101 Chodyangal, last directed the Nivin Pauly starrer Sakhaavu. The movie featured Aishwarya Rajesh as the female lead, and garnered reasonable reviews among the public.

Meanwhile, Parvathy, last seen in Anjali Menon’s Koode, will portray an acid attack survivor in her upcoming project. The movie is titled Uyare, and stars Asif Ali and Tovino Thomas in supporting roles. Parvathy will be joining hands with scriptwriters Bobby and Sanjay after their 2017 movie Take Off.

Directed by newcomer Manu Ashokan, the chief associate to the late director Rajesh Pillai, Uyare retains most of the crew members from Take Off. The director of Take Off, Mahesh Narayanan, will serve as the editor of the film. Gopi Sundar will score music, and Mukesh Muraleedharan is the cinematographer for the project. Muraleedharan has worked on Njandukalude Naattil Oru Idavela.

Talking to ToI about Uyare, Sanjay said, “It’s not based on true life incidents but it’s our depiction of an acid attack survivor. We met a lot of acid attack survivors before starting work on the script.” The team has also hired a Bangalore based make-up team who will be working on the actress’ look for the movie.

Varthamanam will feature Anarkali Marikar, Renji Panicker, Pratap Pothen and Prem Prakash in other roles. The movie will be produced by the daughters of the veteran producer P.V. Gangadharan.
