According to Times Of India, Parthiepan confirmed the news, and said, “Six months ago, a producer from the US wanted to make a film with us, and even gave us the advance for it. However, since director Shankar had complained to the Tamil Film Producers’ Council against Vadivelu (regarding the actor not turning up for the shoot of Imsai Arasan 24am Pulikesi), they are still trying to resolve the issue between them. Once that issue is resolved, we will start our film.”

The duo acted together for the first time in Cheran’s debut film, Bharathi Kannamma. Their humour also worked very well in Kundakka Mandakka. They then starred in Cheran’s Vetri Kodikattu, and have worked on films like Kaakai Chirakiniley and Kadhal Kirukkan, which were well received.

In 2018, a complaint against Vadivelu was filed with the Producers Council by director Shankar, the head of S Pictures. The Council attempted to mediate the dispute and consistently urged Vadivelu to get back on sets. When this failed, the Council asked the actor to pay an amount of Rs 9 crore to the producer for the loss incurred. This demand was not met by Vadivelu. Ultimately, this led the Council to blacklist the actor.
