Following the issues with the release of Vishal’s Paayum Puli, the Producer Councils had announced late on Wednesday that until the issues were resolved, the release of all Tamil films would be stopped from the 4th of September, and the release of non-Tamil films would also be stopped from the 11th of September. Meanwhile, Vishal confirmed that Paayum Puli was on course to release on the 4th of September. He further criticised the Theatres Exhibitors Association for raising issues at the last minute, instead of clearing them in advance.

Meanwhile Arun Pandian, the producer of Savaale Samaali, has also announced that their film would release as scheduled on the 4th of September. He added that, being one of Lingaa’s international distributors, he too had suffered losses, he had not made an issue out of it. He criticised the decision of the Producers Council to stop the release of films across Tamil Nadu, when the issue had only been raised in the Chengalpet districts.
The issue arose after theatre owners in North Arcot, South Arcot, and Chengalpet refused to screen Paayum Puli until Vendhar Movies compensated them for losses incurred by Lingaa. Vendhar Movies are the producers of Paayum Puli and were the distributors for Lingaa. The Producers Council had previously issued a statement saying that the stand taken by the Chengalpet distributors against the release of a different film was unfair and unethical.
