The new teaser of Oru Yamandan Premakatha features only Dulquer Salmaan. The makers have tried to tap into nostalgia by featuring the yesteryear hit ‘Anuraagini Ithaa En.’
Composed by Johnson Master and sung by KJ Yesudas, the song originally featured in Njan Gandharvan, the last film of veteran director Padmarajan, and remains a favourite among the masses.
The skies have opened up, and Dulquer is shown sipping tea with one hand and adjusting the radio with the other. As he matches the correct frequency, and the song begins to play, Dulquer Salmaan exclaims “Ah!! Rain, Tea and Johnson Master!, the ideal combination!”
The movie marks Dulquer Salmaan’s return to Malayalam cinema after a gap of almost two years. The actor was last seen in Bejoy Nambiar’s Solo that released in October 2017.
Directed by BC Noufal, Oru Yamandan Prema Katha features Nikhila Vimal and Samyuktha Menon as the female leads. The movie is written by Vishnu Unnikrishnan and Bibin George, who have written films such as Amar Akbar Anthony and Kattapanayile Hrithik Roshan.
Dulquer Salmaan reportedly plays a painter in the movie. The actor has rarely played a character hailing from a modest background. Barring Salala Mobiles, Jomonte Suvisheshangal, and his guest role in Parava, he has mostly played characters from affluent families.
A recently-released song showed Dulquer clad in a dhoti and bright shirt, biting his collar and dancing in an open ground along with group dancers – something he’s never done before.
The film, initially scheduled to release in March, will now release on April 26.
This year, Dulquer is likely to have a release in three languages. Oru Yemandan Prema Katha is his Malayalam release, and Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal releases in Tamil. After Karwaan, his Hindi debut last year, Zoya Factor, starring him as a cricketer, will release soon. He plays the lead with Sonam Kapoor in the film, which is based on a book of the same name written by Anuja Chauhan.
