Nivin, Nazriya Win Kerala State Film Awards

The top honours in this year’s Kerala State Film Awards, surprisingly, went to young talents. Actor Nivin Pauly won the Best Actor award for his roles in 1983 and Bangalore Days. Pauly shared the award with Sudev Nair, who won the award for the film My Life Partner. Young actress Nazriya Nazim won the Best Actress award for her dynamic performance in Ohm Shanthi Oshaana and Bangalore Days.

Ohm Shanthi Oshaana, a movie which told the story of a spunky young girl’s pursuit to win the heart of the man of her dreams, was one of the biggest hits in 2014. The film bagged the Best Popular Film award, and Nazriya Nazim, who played the lead role in the film, was much praised for her performance.

Nivin Pauly sported three different getups in the film 1983, which revolved around the game cricket. The film, like Ohm Shanthi Oshaana, had a number of young actors playing the lead roles.
