Nithya Menen and Ram are latest to join Mysskin’s next. Aditi Rao Hydariand Udhayanidhi Stalin are the lead actors of this film. Titled Psycho, the film will go on floors next month. The team hopes to begin filming from October, with lead actors Udhayanidhi and Aditi Rao Hydari setting aside bulk dates for it. Arunmozhi Manickam of Double Meaning Productions will bankroll the project, said to be an edge-of-the-seat psychological thriller.
Ilaiyaraja has signed on to compose the music for the film. PC Sreeram will handle the cinematography.
A spokesperson for the film told Silverscreen that Psycho was the working title for the production and that it could change later.
“For now, we are proceeding with the title. Mysskin is always on the lookout for an alternative that can be a better fit for the screenplay. The film is a thriller, and will feature Udhayanidhi in a completely different role.”
Mysskin said that the plot of the movie was very much in tune with his previous work. “By now, everybody knows what to expect from my films. This new movie is also in line with that. But, it is also different. I have a new set of actors working for me now, and I’m looking forward to experimenting with Udhayanidh’s onscreen persona. So far, he has worked in light-hearted comedies. My film will definitely be a departure from that.”

The director, however, refused to comment on the controversy over his choice of lead actor. Initial reports had Mysskin working with Shanthnu for a film. The project with Udhayanidhi was announced shortly thereafter. While Shanthnu was rumoured to have walked out of the project, the actor later went on record and said that the opportunity to star in the film ‘went out of his hands’.
Mysskin did say that casting decisions are always subject to change. “From conceiving the story to the point we take it to the public, there are several things that come into play. These factors ultimately decide each and every thing about the project. The truth is this, Udhayanidhi and Aditi are my lead actors for the next movie. Ilaiyaraaja is composing the music. It is a great coming together of talented individuals.”
The film will be launched with a pooja later this month.
