Director H Vinoth’s Nerkonda Paarvai will release before August 10. The film starring Ajith, Shraddha Srinath and others wrapped up in April, and is ready for release now.
Speaking to Silverscreen, a source close to the production said, “There is going to be a change in date and talks are on to decide on this. An announcement will be made in the next two or three days. The film is complete, so producer Boney Kapoor and others in the team want to release it sooner. They also plan to begin work on their next film immediately after this.”
Some reports say that since Prabhas and Shraddha Kapoor-starrer Saaho, another big budget film, is scheduled to release on August 15 in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi, across many screens, the producers wanted to avoid a clash in box-office. They are considering release on August 1.
Meanwhile, a report by Sify says that distributors have not signed in yet and many have opted out due to the high price quoted by Boney Kapoor. Some also fear that the film may not be a ‘mass entertainer’ as expected by Ajith fans.
Nerkonda Paarvai is a remake of the Hindi film Pink, and unlike the original, it will also feature fight sequences and two songs and other changes made for the Tamil audience, the director said in an interview recently.
Ajith reprises Amitabh Bachchan’s role as a lawyer. Shraddha Srinath plays Taapsee Pannu’s role, and Abhirami Venkatachalam and Andrea Tariang star with her in the lead as the three friends who are harassed and framed for murder.
Adhik Ravichandran, Rangaraj Pandey, Sujith Shankar, Delhi Ganesh, Jeya Prakash, D Ramachandran, and Dinesh P Nair have important roles. Vidya Balan and Kalki Koechlin make a guest appearance.
Music is by Yuvan Shankar Raja, cinematography by Nirav Shah and editing by Gokul Chandran.
Producer Boney Kapoor recently tweeted that he was happy with the film’s rushes. Meanwhile, pre-production for Boney Kapoor’s next Tamil film Thala 60, also directed by H Vinoth has begun.
