The South Indian Artistes’ Association (Nadigar Sangam) issued a press release on Saturday requesting its members not to cooperate with the producer Nadhagopal and his production company Madras Enterprises.
In the press release, it is said that the producer who has produced films like Vishal’s Thupparivalan, Vikram Prabhu’s Veera Sivaji and Vijay Sethupathi’s 96 has not given the actors their pending remuneration even after the release of the films.

The press statement read: “The actors of the films like Thupparivalan, Veera Sivaji and 96 – produced by Madras Enterprises – have not been paid their pending remuneration, which the production house promised to pay before the release of the film.
During such situations, actors sacrifice their pending amount in order to help the producer screen the film. But few producers mistake such sacrifice of the actors as their weakness and continue to repeat the act. There are many similar incidents in the recent past. So in order to put an end to this, a working committee of the Sangam, after consultations, has arrived at a conclusion. Members of the association will not be a part of any production or event of, or co-operate with this particular production house – Madras Enterprises, or of other production houses behaving in such a manner.”
Earlier in October, the morning shows of 96 were cancelled as Vishal held the release of the film. Vishal is said to have provided financial assistance to Nandhagopal, and when the latter couldn’t repay the loan, the matter had come up in the Tamil Film Producers’ Council for mediation.
Later, actor Vijay Sethupathi had stepped forward to clear the dues, following which the film hit theatres. TFPC President Vishal, in a press release later said that he has decided to relieve Vijay Sethupathi of paying the debt of Rs 1.5 crore that is owed to him by producer Nandhagopal.
