Mysskin Hosts Special Screening For Visaranai

Director Mysskin hosted a special screening of Vetri Maaran’s film Visaranai yesterday, to celebrate the film’s reception at the 72nd Venice International Film Festival, where it won Amnesty International Italy’s ‘Cinema for Human Rights Award’. Mysskin invited fellow directors to the event, which was followed by a celebratory party. The directors present unanimously praised Vetri Maaran for his depiction of merciless brutality on screen. The film had been lauded at the festival for its sensitive portrayal of a human rights activist survivor.

In his letter to Vetri Maaran, Mysskin confessed that he couldn’t watch Visaranai along with his directorial colleagues, as he was busy organising the party. But, Mysskin did watch the film the following day at Four Frames. Calling the film truthful and intense, he added, ” Vetri Maaran, you have reached the pinnacle of your career. You have created a worthiest film of your life.” An experimental thriller, the hour long film stars Anandhi and Dinesh.

The special screening was attended by Mani Ratnam, Bala, Lingusamy, Shankar, Ram, Mohan Raja, Samuthirakani, Balaji Sakthivel, Sasi, Rohini, Manikandan, Pa Ranjith, Subramaniya Siva, Mahesh Muthusamy, Tapasnayak and Stanley, along with the team members of Visaranai. Mysskin is currently busy directing Savarakaththi,
