According to reports, he plays a crucial role and has already started shooting for the film. An official announcement is yet to be made, though.

Mohan Babu was last seen in Tamil in the 1980 Kamal Haasan and Sridevi-starrer Guru, where he played one of the associates of MN Nambiar, who played the antagonist. He is known for his work in Telugu cinema and has acted in over 500 movies, and also produced and directed films. His latest film was Mahanati in Telugu. He was also in the news recently for joining the YSRCP party headed by Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Meanwhile, the shoot for Soorarai Pottru is on. The latest pictures from the sets were shared today on social media.

There are unconfirmed reports that the film is a biopic on the life of Capt (Retd) GR Gopinath, who founded Air Deccan and introduced the concept of budget airlines in the country.

There were speculations that Pooja Hegde was part of the cast, but recent reports confirmed that Aparna Balamurali, who was recently seen in Sarvam Thaala Mayam, plays the female lead.

The film was launched in April with the cast and crew in attendance. Oscar-winning producer Guneet Monga and Suriya’s 2D Entertainment are co-producing the film.

Hollywood stunt choreographer Greg Powell, who has worked on films such as Skyfall, Fast And Furious and Bourne Ultimatum, recently came on board for the action sequences.

The team released a statement that the crew comprises extraordinary performers from across the country. The music is by GV Prakash, cinematography by Niketh Bommireddy, production design by Jacki, editing by Satish Surya and costumes by Poornima Ramaswamy.

GV Prakash also tweeted that Thaikkudam Bridge, the popular band from Kerala, has collaborated and recreated one of its iconic numbers ‘Urumbu’ from the album Navarasam for the film.
