A R Rahman and his team will be performing live at the audio launch of Vijay’s Mersal, which is set to happen this evening at Nehru Stadium, Chennai.
Mersal, bankrolled by Thenandal Films, is directed by Atlee. A source from the film’s production house told Silverscreen: “This is Thenandal’s 100th film, and Rahman and Vijay’s 25th year in the film industry. This event is big for the production house. Vijay and Rahman are the chief guests for the evening. AR Rahman will be performing three songs from Mersal at the launch. Actors Vishal, Jayam Ravi and Arya are the confirmed guests for today’s launch.”
The source added, “Heads of all film unions were invited and they are also expected [to arrive] today.”

Vijay, who usually conveys a message to his fans at the audio launches of his films, is expected to deliver a message today as well.
Recently, two songs from the film – ‘Aalaporan Thamizhan‘, a folk number, and the melodious ‘Neethanae‘ – were released as single tracks. A poster, featuring Vijay and Kajal Aggarwal, from another song, ‘Macho‘, was also released.
The film’s lyricist, Vivek, tweeted a few lines from the introduction song ‘Mersal Arasan‘, sung by GV Prakash.
