The spokesperson for the film told Silverscreen that Amala Paul, who is busy with a number of projects, including Aadai and her home production Cadaver, had to opt out because of a clash of dates. The makers then approached Megha Akash for the role. “She is already on board and has begun shooting with the team in Ooty. The second schedule for the film is on,” the spokesperson added.

Megha also shared the news on Twitter. She will be seen with Vijay Sethupathi on screen for the first time. A third lead actor will also join the team shortly, though an official announcement is yet to be made.

The film is temporarily titled VSP33 (Vijay Sethupathi’s 33rd film) and marks the debut of director Venkata Krishna Roghnath, who has assisted filmmaker SP Jananathan on films such as Peranmai and Purambokku Engira Podhuvudaimai.

The film was launched by SP Jananathan on June 14 in Palani. Vijay Sethupathi, Megha Akash and the third lead, an actress from abroad,  play musicians in the film, and it will be set around the festive occasions of Christmas and New Year. A press release said the film speaks about an issue that has affected people internationally.
