Mari Selvaraj will direct Dhanush in a new film. The actor made the announcement on his social media account earlier today. This new film will be Mari’s second as director.

Producer Kalaipuli S Thanu will finance the movie. Thanu was all praise for Mari’s directorial capabilities and said that it was a pleasure to be associated with the young filmmaker.
The spokesperson for Dhanush told Silverscreen that the movie has been in talks for some time now. “Pariyerum Perumal (Mari’s first as director) really moved Dhanush. He was very impressed and so decided to team up with Mari Selvaraj for a movie,” he said.
The film will be officially launched later this year, Dhanush’s spokesperson said.
Mari Selvaraj was unavailable for comment but his spokesperson did say that the young director was thrilled at the opportunity to work with Dhanush.
Mari’s Pariyerum Perumal released earlier this year to positive reviews. The film with Kathir, Anandhi, Yogi Babu in important roles dealt with caste based violence and brutality, using its lead character to highlight the systemic oppression faced by the Dalit communities in Tamil Nadu.

At present, Dhanush is hard at work on his directorial that boasts a star heavy ensemble with the likes of Nagarjuna, SJ Surya, Srikanth cast in pivotal roles. Thenandal Studios is the producer of this project that is scheduled for a release in 2019.
Dhanush has also announced plans to make a film with director Vetrimaaran, with whom he made Vada Chennai. He has Maari 2, a sequel to the 2015 hit of the same name with Sai Pallavi as the female lead, music by Yuvan Shankar Raja and Balaji Mohan as director.
