The Central Board of Film Certification chairman and lyricist Prasoon Joshi, and Kangana Ranaut’s sister Rangoli Chandel, are among the people to have responded to Krish Jagarlamudi’s allegations staking claim to the directorial credits of Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi.
Prasoon Joshi, who wrote the dialogues for the movie, tweeted that the actress has not only given an outstanding performance, but also elevated the movie to another level through her direction and commitment. No controversy should take that from her.

Earlier this week, Krish Jagarlamudi, who was originally hired to direct the movie, had said in an interview that Ranaut was a bit too focused on herself, and had demanded that certain scenes featuring Sonu Sood be removed. Krish said that when he refused to comply, he was removed from the directorial position, the actor was replaced, and his portions were re-shot. Ranuat has since been credited as the director of the movie.
Rangoli Chandel, Kangana Ranaut’s sister, put out a tweet on the actress’ behalf saying that the actress had shot 70% of the film, and that the editing process was carried out entirely under her supervision. Most of the post-production team, including the editor, hadn’t even met Krish Jagarlamudi, and the actress had delivered the first copy of the movie to the producer. She also said that Kangana Ranaut was ready to apologize if he could prove otherwise.

Manikarnika, which released on January 25, has garnered appreciation from the audience with a lot of praise for the actress’ performance. Despite being criticised for its direction and the duration of the movie, it has managed to do well at the box office. But the movie has been mired in controversy since its announcement.
Following Krish Jagarlamudi’s revelations, Apurva Asrani, the writer of Ranaut’s earlier film Simran has come out in support of the director. Asrani who had a similar experience when the actress allegedly took his writing credits, and got him fired as the editor of the film, tweeted to Simran director Hansal Mehta for failing to stand beside him and side with the actress.

Mehta, in response, said that Simran was a closed chapter of his life.
