Mammootty may play the Muslim naval chief of the Zamorin (Samoothiri), Kunjali Marakkar, in an upcoming film. According to The Times of India, August Cinemas, who had bankrolled Prithviraj’s historical drama Urumi (2011), might bankroll this one too.
Reports suggest that details about the film might be revealed on the actor’s birthday, September 7, and that Comrade In America director Amal Neerad might direct it.
Meanwhile, the title poster of Mammootty’s next – Pullikkaran Staraa – was released recently. He plays a teacher in this film. Deepti Sati plays the female lead. Directed by Shyamdhar, the film also stars Innocent, Dileesh Pothan, Hareesh Kanaran, and Sohan Seenulal.
