Mahesh Babu, recently seen in the political action drama Bharat Ane Nenu, has reportedly resumed shoot for his next film Maharshi directed by Vamshi Paidipally of Oopiri fame.
According to a report in Cinema Express, the shoot has resumed after the actor’s return from his New Year vacation in Dubai with family and friends.
In Maharshi, he is said to be essaying five roles with five different looks. The film also has Pooja Hegde and Allari Naresh in the lead, with veteran actor Jaya Pradha in a pivotal role.
The first look poster was unveiled on Mahesh Babu’s 43rd birthday. He announced the start of his “new journey as Rishi” via a Twitter post.

The teaser, which begins with a rendition of ‘Happy Birthday Superstar’, features Mahesh Babu striding through the doors of a college. As has been reported earlier, the actor will play a college student in the film alongside actor Allari Naresh who plays his classmate.
A major portion of the film has been shot in the US. While more details about the film are yet to be known, sources say that the part shot in the US is a crucial plot element. “The story of the film is such that it is high on emotions and drama. The college episode is important for the plot twist,” a source said.

According to a DNA report, the makers of Maharshi had a shoot scheduled in Goa after Dehradun. The film is produced by Dil Raju under Sri Venkateswara Creations, Vyjayanthi Cinemas and PVP Cinemas. KU Mohanan handles cinematography, and Devi Sri Prasad is the music composer. Maharshi is scheduled to release on April 5, 2019.
Mahesh Babu, who was last seen in Bharat Ane Nenu, a political thriller directed by Koratla Siva, has two other films in the pipeline. SSMB26 is directed by Sukumar, and SSMB27 is by Arjun Reddy fame Sandeep Vanga. Mahesh Babu is known for his mass appeal and content-driven cinema, and has an IMDB rating higher than 7 for 11 of his films.
It is speculated that the actor will soon join hands with Boyapati Sreenu who recently directed Vineya Vidheya Rama, and a project with SS Rajamouli who is currently shooting for RRR with Ram Charan and Jr NTR.
