According to reports, Mahesh Babu will play a US-based business tycoon who, during a visit to the two Telugu speaking states, brings about a revolution in their agricultural sector. Directed by Vamsi Paidipally, the movie also stars Pooja Hegde in the female lead.

The first look of the movie was released earlier this year on the actor’s birthday and featured him in the role of a college student. A major portion of the film has been shot in the USA. While it is not known if Mahesh Babu will be seen as a student throughout the film, sources say that this particular period is a crucial plot element. “The story of the film is such that it is high on emotions and drama.” “The college episode is important for the plot twist,” the source adds.

Mahesh Babu was last seen in Bharat Ane Nenu – a political thriller directed by Koratla Siva. The actor has two more films in the pipeline, tentatively titled SSMB26 and SSMB27. While the former is helmed by Sukumar, the latter is directed by Arjun Reddy fame Sandeep Vanga.

Maharshi is being jointly produced by Dil Raju under Sri Venkateswara Creations, Vyjayanthi Cinemas and PVP Cinemas. KU Mohanan handles the cinematography and Devi Sri Prasad composes music.
