The Madras High Court has removed an interim stay on the Nadigar Sangam’s proposed new construction.
The Sangam’s Twitter account posted:

Earlier this year, a stay was put on the construction of a new building for the Sangam. Among other things, the building was to have a preview theatre, a multi-purpose hall, and offices. However, the Madras High Court imposed a stay on the construction. Silverscreen earlier reported that a petition was filed in the High Court to the effect that the Nadigar Sangam land was encroaching on public property. Following this, a bench comprising of two judges stayed the construction. The case was ongoing in court, and as late as June 28, the court had extended the stay, as the court-appointed surveyor was yet to submit their findings.

However, now the High Court has ruled in the Sangam’s favour. The Times Of India quotes a source saying, “The Nadigar Sangam land case was listed for further hearing today in the court. After hearing the parties, the division bench consisting of Hon’ble justices N Kirubakaran and V Parthiban vacated the interim order prohibiting the Sangam from putting up any construction and reserved orders in the main writ petition. They added that the petitioners had not made out a prima facie case and that they would pass detailed orders shortly.”
