Madhavan Reveals His New Look In Scientist Nambi Narayanan Biopic

Actor R Madhavan unveils his first look as the scientist Nambi Narayanan in his upcoming Rocketry: The Nambi Effect. It was earlier announced that Madhavan will be playing the role of the scientist in the multilingual film based on Nambi’s life.

The actor who is known for looking charming even after many years, will be seen as an old scientist, possibly with a salt-and-pepper look. He is doing his best to get to where Nambi was, “Even if it is only look-wise,” he says.

Madhavan had earlier announced that he will go through a physical change for his role in the film. He will play the protagonist in all stages of his life – from 25 to 75 years.

The actor also has to gain weight for the role, and has apparently asked Aamir Khan for tips. “The prep is taking me through different age groups, shapes and sizes… He (Aamir Khan) told me it’s better to do the heavier parts first so that that I’m compelled to lose all the weight I put on,” Madhavan told The Times of India.

Jointly directed by Anant Mahadevan and Madhavan, the film marks the actor’s debut as a director. It is said that the actor will be seen in three different looks for the film. Rocketry: The Nambi Effect will focus on the scientist’s life and the ISRO espionage case. It will be made in Tamil, Hindi and English owing to R Madhavan’s pan-Indian appeal.

The teaser of the movie has Madhavan gazing out of a prison cell as India launches its first satellite headed for Mars. While Mangalyaan was a success during the first attempt itself and was achieved at a much lower cost than other countries, Madhavan as Nambi Narayanan says in the teaser that India had the potential to achieve the feat 20 years back.

The film is under production. It is scheduled to release in the summer of 2019.
