Lyca Productions on Kaththi

Lyca Productions, the makers of Kaththi, held a press meet today to dismiss the allegations levelled against them about their association with Mahinda Rajapaksa, the President of Sri Lanka. It was rumoured that the President had made financial contributions to the production of Kaththi. Subaskaran Allirajah, Chairman of Lyca Group said, “Our two days of revenue would be sufficient to produce a film like Kaththi. We don’t need any help from external sources.”

Dismissing all rumours about their political connection with the Sri Lankan government, Subaskaran said they have been visiting Sri Lanka quite often to carry out charity work and human welfare activities. Lyca Productions bankrolled Cheran’s Pirivom Sandhipom under their banner, Gnanam Productions and rechristened themselves recently. “We have always been fond of Tamil films. It helps us rebuild our bond with Tamil people. We will produce more Tamil films and we are planning to make a Hindi movie soon,” he said.

Directed by AR Murugadoss, Kaththi features Vijay and Samantha in lead roles. Neil Nitin Mukesh plays the villain, while Prabhu and Sathish form the supporting cast. Anirudh has composed music. The film’s audio will be launched on September 18. Kaththi will hit theatres on Deepavali.
