Raghava Lawrence At The 'Thaai' Album Launch

Looks like the drama surrounding Hindi thriller Laxmmi Bomb is far from over. Now, it appears that if talks with the producers are fruitful, choreographer-actor-director Raghava Lawrence will return to the project and make his Bollywood directorial debut, as planned.

The film, an official remake of Kanchana, was announced with much fanfare. However, on May 18, hours after the first look of the film was released, the director put out a tweet saying he was stepping out of the project over “self respect” issues. He claimed he was not informed about the release of the first-look poster, among other things.

Now, Lawrence has said the producers of the film were meeting him in Chennai on Sunday, and if all went well and his concerns were addressed, he would not be averse to working on the film. Fans of Akshay and Lawrence have been requesting him to be a part of the film, the actor said in a tweet. “I’m equally upset for past one week as you are,” he said, adding that he had looked forward to working on the film, and had spent “quality time” on pre-production.

Some Bollywood websites put down Lawrence’s decision to interference from Akshay on the sets. However, no one from the team has spoken to the media about this. It was also speculated that Farhad Samji, who adapted the story from the original, would take over directorial duties.

Lawrence’s team said the actor does not wish to speak about the issue, and that any updates on the status of the project would be made via social media.

This controversy comes close on the heels of Lawrence’s super hit Kanchana 3 that was trashed by critics, but lapped up by an audience starved of summer entertainment.
