A representative for the Madras Bar Association has petitioned the Censor Board requesting them to ‘review Lingaa properly’ . Their petition is in response to rumours that the film has scenes that defame lawyers and the Indian legal system. The lawyers have also requested that a special viewing be arranged for them, so that they can assure themselves that the rumours are untrue.

Lingaa has faced multiple issues since it began shooting in May this year. There were protests near the sets of the project in Karnataka, followed by allegations of plagiarism earlier this month.
A spokesperson for Lingaa refused to comment on this issue. The movie stars Rajinikanth, Sonakshi Sinha and Anushka Shetty; and is directed by KS Ravikumar.
