Lakshmy Ramakrishnan’s Next Titled ‘House Owner’

After helming three critically acclaimed films, Aarohanam, Nerungi Vaa Muthamidadhe and Ammani actor-director Lakshmy Ramakrishnan has begun shooting for her next.

The lates update is that the movie has been titled House Owner, a name Lakshmy had actually reserved for her project with Ashok Selvan and Aishwarya Rajesh. The director took to Twitter to announce the news.

Set against the Chennai floods, House Owner stars Kishore of Pasanga fame and Viji Chandrasekhar’s daughter Lovelyn in the lead. Lakshmy clarified that it was not a period film, although certain portions are set 40 years ago. Apart from Lovelyn, Lakshmy is also in talks with Sriranjini for the female lead.

“It’s not a period film, but certain portions are set about 40 years ago. Apart from Kishore and Lovelyn, the film also  stars Aadukalam Kishore in the lead. For the female lead, I’ve spoken to Sriranjini; she has lovely, big eyes, and is so unassuming,” says Lakshmy.

Krishna is the cinematographer while Prem and Durai Mannan take care of the editing and art direction respectively. The next schedule of the film begins on July 19.  The film is expected to be wrapped up by September this year.

Interestingly, Lakshmy had announced a project with the same title sometime back. The film was to star Ashok Selvan and Aishwarya Rajesh in lead roles. Due to Lakshmy’s television commitments, the film did not take off.  “I had my Solvathellam Unmai commitments and only first draft of the script was ready. And then, Ashok and Aishwarya got busy with other films,” says Lakshmy.

Lakshmy then floated a project with Asha Sharath in the lead. Titled Blue Ink, the film was based on her experiences as the television host of Solvathellam Unmai, a reality show that attempts to solve contentious issues of real-life people. Although the director was excited about the project, she kept it under the wraps fearing contempt of court. Despite a go-ahead from the channel Lakshmy decided to shelve the film and went back to working on the love story script, which she had readied in 2017.
