The director spoke about the reason for casting the two actresses, and said in a ToI report, “I wanted someone who had the energy of a Nazriya or Genelia for this particular role and felt Kalyani had that vibe. That she is also a fresh face is an added advantage.” Daughter of director Priyadarshan, Kalyani made her debut in the 2017 Telugu film Hello.
About casting Kriti Kharbanda, the director said it her television commercials and her roles in Hindi films that lead to her signing for his film. Kharbanda made her Tamil debut with the 2017 G.V.Prakash starrer Bruce Lee. She featured in Veerey Ki Wedding and Yamla Pagla Deewana: Phir Se this year.
Meanwhile, Dulquer Salmaan, who was last seen in 2017’s Solo, has another Tamil film – Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal in the making.
