Director Sathya Siva’s Kazhugu 2, starring Krishna and Bindu Madhavi, will release on August 1. The theatrical rights for the film have been acquired by Screen Scene Entertainment.
Sathya Siva tweeted the news this morning and said that the film is yet another intense outing for actor Krishna, who was last seen in Maari 2. The film stars Kaali Venkat and Crane Manohar in important roles, and features Yaashika Anand in a song.

Sathya Siva made his debut with Kazhugu in 2012, a comedy-thriller featuring a man who recovers the dead bodies of those who commit suicides. The film was based on real-life events and was shot in and around Kodaikanal, Theni and Munnar.
Following its success, he directed Savaale Samaali, Sivappu, Madai Thiranthu, and launched the sequel of Kazhugu in July last year.
Speaking to Silverscreen, he said that the film is not a continuation of the original. “Krishna and Bindu Madhavi are once again on board, and this film too is a comedy-thriller, but the story is entirely different. Bindu plays a labourer and Krishna hunts wild animals for the people in the region.”
The film was shot in thick forests around Munnar. In the teaser that released earlier this month, Krishna is seen hunting wild dogs and there is also a chase from politicians and police officers in the region.
The music for the film is by Yuvan Shankar Raja, who composed a hit album with ‘Aambalaikum Pombalaikum’ and other songs for the original. “He has composed an even better album and background score for the sequel,” the director says.
‘Sakalakala Valli’ featuring Yaashika Anand and 300 other dancers, and ‘Yelamala Kathu’ have released to a good response. The film is produced by Thirupur PA Ganesan under GK Studios. Cinematography is by Raja Battacharjee and editing by Gopikrishna.
Actor Krishna is also awaiting the release of the much delayed Grahanam, and has director Prabhu’s Thiru Kural and the Malayalam film Picasso under production.
