Initial reports suggested that both Akshay Kumar and Shah Rukh Khan were approached for the protagonist’s role. This led to a certain mix-up, making the director come out with a clarification.

“Want to clarify: haven’t said anywhere KSBV is getting remade with two Bollywood superstars playing the lead, though talks are very much on for remaking the film in other languages,” read the director’s tweet.

When contacted by Silverscreen, the director said, “The movie is being considered for a remake in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.” He refused to divulge anything more citing it was too early.

Though numerous Dileep films have been remade as popular films in other languages, none of them have come at such an early stage. Salman Khan’s Bodyguard which became one of the biggest hits in Hindi was originally made in Malayalam with Dileep in the lead. Likewise, Dileep’s movies too have been inspired by other language films. His Ivan Maryadaraman, was inspired by the Telugu hit Maryada Ramanna.
