The shoot for director Prashanth Neel’s Yash-starrer KGF: Chapter 2, initially scheduled to commence on May 8, began today. Pictures from shoot and Yash’s first look from the film have leaked online.
While an official announcement is awaited, the spokesperson for the film told Silverscreen, “The team is currently in Kolar Gold Fields and the shoot has started. The pictures that have leaked online cannot be confirmed as his look in the film.”
Yash’s fans and the filmmakers have been asking people not to circulate pictures of the shooting spot, but the actor’s selfie, in which he is seen with longer hair and a more rugged look, have gone viral.

KGF: Chapter 1 released on December 21 in Kannada, Tamil, Hindi, Telugu and Malayalam. The makers announced that the film will have two parts, and a release date is yet to be set for Chapter 2.
KGF is Yash’s most ambitious project till date. The film is inspired from the real events that happened at the gold fields in the 70s, and a lot of research was reportedly done to stay true to the place it was set in. Yash’s character in the film starts off in Mumbai and eventually goes to KGF. Chapter 1 was big hit even before release, and the makers announced that while this film centred on Yash’s rise as a gangster, the second installment will focus on his fall.
Srinidhi Shetty, who had limited screen space in the first film, is said to have a more solid role in the second part. Sanjay Dutt is rumoured to play the antagonist. A confirmation regarding this is awaited, but Yash hinted in an interview earlier, “We had offered him Chapter 1, which he did not accept perhaps for reasons of date availability. But yes, we have offered him Chapter 2,” reports Pinkvilla.
If Sanjay Dutt comes on board, this will be his first south Indian movie. The previous film also featured Ramakrishna Raju, Vasishta N Simha, Ayyappa P, Harish Rai, Ananth Nag and others. The music was by Ravi Basrur, cinematography by Bhuvan Gowda. Actor Vishal Krishna had bagged the Tamil distribution rights, and the film made about Rs 250 crore worldwide.
