A mix of vintage and local flavours, that’s what the motion poster showcases. You have a vinyl record player, imported liquor, some pizza, but there’s also billhooks and biryani. You have Kalaiyarasan, Joju George and James Cosmo in blazers and then you have Dhanush in a traditional veshti sattai strapped with a gun. In the end, they are all seated near a table (reminded me of the Last Supper) where an orange-suit-wearing Dhanush is seen smirking among a bunch of locals and foreigners. The trademark Santhosh Narayanan score works well in the poster. Does the title have anything to do with the popular number from K Balachander‘s 1979 classic Ninaithale Inikkum?

YNot Studios took to Twitter to launch the motion poster.

Helmed by director Karthik Subbaraj, the film is being jointly bankrolled by S Sashikanth and Chakravarthy Ramachandra for YNot Studios and by Reliance Entertainment. The film marks the first association of the actor with the director. Last week, on February 9, Karthik took to Twitter to announce that the shooting of the film has been wrapped up and thanked his crew for supporting him throughout. Dhanush had already completed shooting for his portions in the film by the end of December. The actor has said that it is one of the quickest films he has ever done.

It is being touted as a gangster film and has been filmed entirely in the United Kingdom. The film began shoot in August 2019. Earlier, speculations were rife that the film has been titled Suruli.

Action fame Aishwarya Lekshmi will be seen opposite the actor. Game of Thrones, Braveheart, Troy and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe fame James Cosmo along with South-Indian actors Kalaiyarasan, Joju George, and Sanchana Natarajan also play important roles in the film.

Shreyaas Krishna is handling camera, Vinoth Rajkumar is helming art, and Vivek Harshan is editing the project. Dinesh Subbarayan had replaced Anbariv on stunts, M Sherif and Baba Baskar choreographed dance and Praveen Raja D worked on costumes.

Karthik Subburaj has been working on this script for a while but the project materialised only two years ago. Jagame Thandhiram will hit screens on 1 May 2020.

Dhanush had two releases last year — Asuran and Ennai Nokki Paayum Thotta. His first release in 2020 was Pattas which recently completed 25 days in theatres. The film will also release in Telugu as Local Boy on the 28 February. The actor recently won the Filmfare award for ‘Best Actor (Tamil)’ for his performance in Vada Chennai (2018) at the 66th Filmfare Awards South and the ‘Best Actor’ award for Asuran at the Ananda Vikatan Awards 2019 and at the Zee Cine Awards Tamil 2020.
