Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy called out actor Yash after the latter got involved in the political campaign of Sumalatha, wife of late Congress MLA Ambareesh. Kumaraswamy, whose son is in the running against Sumalatha from Mandya, said that the KGF star would not have survived but for producers such as him.
Kumaraswamy also said that his supporters had deliberately kept silent on the issue considering his wellbeing in mind. “Some actor called Yash has been accusing my party members. My supporters have refrained from commenting only because of me. I can’t believe I agreed to make films with such actors. They only survive because of producers like us,” the CM was quoted as saying in a Pinkvilla report.
“Do not believe all that you see on screen. What you witness on a daily basis is the truth. Where were all these actors when our farmers committed suicide?” he asked.
Last month, Yash and Darshan had flanked Sumalatha at a press meet where the actress announced her decision to contest as an independent candidate. Yash was described by Sumalatha as her “other son”.
Kumaraswamy is not the first person from his party to call out Yash. Last month, KR Pete MLA Narayana Gowda said that the actors supporting Sumalatha ran the risk of being investigated by the Government.

“It is because of the people who buy movie tickets that the cinema industry is flourishing. Those in the film industry must respect the people. If they continue to go against us (referring to JD(S)), we will begin an investigation into how they earned so much money. We are running the Government, so stay at home respectfully,” the leader was quoted as saying by TNM.
Subsequently, a complaint was filed by Election Commissioner Ravikumar claiming that Narayana Gowda had violated the Model Code of Conduct. A case was registered in the KR Pete Circle police station in Mandya.
