Kamal Haasan at The Kizhakku Appricavil Raju Movie Launch

Kamal Haasan, who is currently in Boston, in a conversation with journalist Barkha Dutt at the India Conference in Harvard Business School, hinted that he might not form an alliance with Rajinikanth. Admitting that he sees a ‘hue of saffron’ in him, Haasan says he might think of an alliance if the colour changes.

“The hue of Rajinikanth is saffron. The colour of my politics is black (which is all colours). Don’t see any alliance likely,” he told Dutt.

The actor also spoke why there’s a need to challenge the mediocrity in Tamil Nadu’s current politics. “My true purpose today is to challenge the status quo and mediocrity that has plagued Tamil Nadu. When average businessmen and politicians set mediocrity as a standard, then rubbish becomes acceptable,” he said.

Haasan also spoke on the topic of ‘love jihad’, ‘beef’, and freedom of speech, questioning the government who encourage hate in the country. “Freedom isn’t not once it’s inside a bank locker,” he said.

“On February 21 as I embark on my political journey, I am announcing a plan to adopt one village in every district of Tamil Nadu with the vision and aspiration for them to be ‘the best villages ever in India and later why not in the world’,” he further said in his key note address. He added that a strong Tamil Nadu augurs well for a strong India.

Harvard Business School’s 15th edition of the India Conference 2018, is currently taking place with the conference aiming to bring together India’s thought leaders for a weekend of discussions and brainstorming sessions. Apart from Haasan, the conference’s other speakers include filmmaker Hansal Mehta, actress and politician Divya Spandana, fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee, writer Amish Tripathi, journalists Nidhi Razdan and Rahul Kanwal, and others.

Meanwhile, Haasan, much like Rajinikanth, has launched his website – www.naalainamadhe.maiam.com – in which volunteers who wish to join his campaign can register for it. The actor will announced the name of his party and begin his rally on February 21.
