Actor Kamal Haasan on Monday said that he would quit acting to take the plunge into full-time politics after the completion of his new movie Indian 2. Speaking at a private function in Kerala, the actor said that his production company would still be functioning to finance his various public-centered programs.
According to a DC report, the actor said “Makkal Needhi Maiam (his political party) will field candidates in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Tamil Nadu. I’ll quit acting after the upcoming project Indian 2, the shooting of which is slated to start on December 14.”
The event held at Kizhakkambalam in Cochin marked the handing over of 37 houses to poor families in Njaralur Colony by Twenty-20, a non-profit organisation and the Kizhakkambalam Grama Panchayat.
“I feel great happiness to come to functions like this where those in power walk the talk. However, without power, all your dreams will remain dreams. I want to emulate the programs being implemented here back in Tamil Nadu,” the actor said.
A sequel to the actor’s 1996 film Indian, Indian 2 marks the coming together of the actor and director Shankar after 22 years.
According to a News18 report, Kajal Aggarwal said, “I’m doing one more film with Sai. I also have a film with Kamal Haasan sir. I’m looking forward to both these projects.” Reports have emerged that Simbu has also been roped in to play the role of a police officer in the film.
Produced by Lyca Productions, the pre-production for the movie had already begun with the production designer, T Muthuraj, sharing a photo from the shooting set. Anirudh Ravichander has been roped in to score music for the movie.
