Actor-politician Kamal Haasan is returning as the host of the third season of the popular reality show Bigg Boss which marked his television debut in 2017. Shoot for the promo episode has reportedly begun with Kamal at a location outside Chennai. The show is likely to be telecast from the beginning of June.

While official details about the contestants for this season is not out yet, speculations say that actors Chandini Tamilarasan who started in Siddhu+2, Laila Mehdin known for Pithamagan and Nandha, and the popular film and TV actor Sudha Chandran have been approached for the third season.

A report by IB Times, says actress Sakshi Agarwal may also be on board.

The reality show features a group of contestants living together in an isolated house for 100 days. Similar to the first two seasons, the third season will have 15 celebrity, and one non-celebrity participants. Contestants are currently being finalised by producers Vijay TV. In the past seasons, Oviyaa, Aarav, Riythvika, Harish Kalyan, Ganesh Venkatraman, Yaashika Aanand were among the participants.

It was earlier speculated that Nayanthara, Suriya or Simbu may host the third season of Bigg Boss as Kamal is busy with political commitments, but the channel later confirmed that Kamal would return.

When Bigg Boss Tamil was launched in 2017, the producers reportedly approached Kamal because they thought his knowledge about a range topics made him a favourable host. He had appeared as guest on several shows and interviews before Bigg Boss, but was known for staying away from endorsing brands, major shows or political parties. He made his TV debut with this show, and the episodes and his speeches in the first two seasons went on to pave way for his political entry months later.

Kamal Haasan’s party Makkal Needhi Maiam contested the Lok Sabha elections from all thirty nine seats in Tamil Nadu this year. The bypolls get over on May 18, and results will be announced on May 23. In a report by The Hindu, sources close to the actor say he will finish his film and television projects soon. He has director Shankar’s Indian 2 in the pipeline, but the status of the project is unknown. His production house Raaj Kamal Film International will also continue to remain active.
