According to the provisions of the Prasar Bharati Act, members who are absent without taking permission for three consecutive board meetings have to “vacate the office”. Sources tell PTI News that the Information and Broadcasting ministry (I&B) had sent a letter to Prasar Bharati seeking clarification on whether Kajol had attended recent meetings.

Kajol, who has been a member of the board for the past three years, had not attended around three meetings without giving any reason.

Prasar Bharati looks at the functioning of public broadcasters All India Radio (AIR) and Doordarshan. However, soon after the matter was brought to light, Kajol’s spokesperson said that she hadn’t been able to attend the meetings due to family emergencies.

“She regrets that she has been unable to attend the last few meetings due to circumstances beyond her control,” the actress’ spokesperson said.

Kajol, meanwhile, recently completed the shooting of a music video for her upcoming Tamil film Velaiyilla Pattadhari 2 starring Dhanush.

Reports claim the filmmakers are planning to release the music video before the release of the film as a part of the promotional campaign to create some buzz among the audience. Director Soundarya Rajnikanth shared a picture from the sets of the shoot on Saturday on her Twitter page.

VIP 2 marks Kajol’s comeback film in Tamil after a gap of two decades. Her last film was Minsara Kanavu, also starring Arvind Swamy and Prabhu Deva in the lead roles, which came out in 1997. In VIP 2, Kajol plays a character called Vasundhara, reportedly a character with grey shades.
