Kadaram Kondan Teaser Review: Vikram’s Return To His Forte

With Kadaram Kondan, Vikram makes a comeback to action, his admitted forte. Though an earlier poster had featured him dressed up as a cop, the teaser has a totally different story to tell.

Going by a voiceover in the beginning, the actor plays KK, a thief who has managed to remain just a suspect and never a convict – something that can be credited to his ‘intelligence.’ Charges levelled against him include smuggling, theft and robbery.

The opening shot showing a person fleeing through the streets establishes that the story is set in Malaysia. Roughly 20 seconds into the trailer Vikram makes his first appearance at a nightclub in his salt n pepper (but mostly pepper) look.

With its chase sequences, explosions and the generous dose of gunshots, Kadaram Kondan slots itself into the action thriller genre. The nightclubs and the city set chase scenes lend an urban nature to the proceedings.

At the end of the trailer, Vikram, who hadn’t been allotted a single dialogue, conspicuously places his finger on his lips and signals at someone to hush.

Produced by Kamal Haasan under the banner of Raj Kamal Films International, Kadaram Kondan has been directed by Rajesh M Selva, who had directed the actor’s Thoongavanam.

The movie also features Akshara Haasan and Malayalam actor Lena. Abi Haasan, son of Nasser makes his debut in the movie.

Akshara Haasan has been paired opposite the debutant in the movie. It should be interesting to see Vikram solo and without a female lead in the movie.

Music for the film is composed by M Ghibran. With the word Kadaram  – a region in Malaysia that was previously ruled by a Chola king, in the title, the region is expected to have a substantial part in the movie. The repeated presence of the Petronas Towers and the cityscapes in both the teaser and posters further adds to this notion.

The movie is expected to release in April.
