Director Kabir Khan, who was in New Delhi this Tuesday to receive the National Award, told PTI that he would be directing Salman Khan again, in his next film.

The movie, which will be launched in July, will be set against a “larger-than-life political backdrop”, said Kabir. “I am starting my next film in July with Salman. It is also a very nice, warm human story, with a larger-than-life political backdrop. That never goes away with me since I come from a documentary background,” Kabir was quoted by PTI.

The duo have previously worked on two films, Ek Thaa Tiger (2012) and Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015). Both movies were box-office successes, and Bajrangi went on to win the National Award in 2015, in the Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment category.

Salman Khan’s next release is Sultan, directed by Ali Abbas Zafar. He plays a wrestler from Haryana, along with co-lead Anushka Sharma, who portrays a wrestler named Aarfa. Recently, a complaint was filed in a Muzaffarnagar court against Zafar and Khan, which alleged that the film was shot in the Morna area of the district, whereas the location named was Rewari in Haryana.
