John Abraham’s ‘Romeo Akbar Walter’ To Release On April 12

John Abraham Announced Brand Ambassador Of A Wellness Label

The long delayed John Abraham starrer Romeo Akbar Walter (RAW) is set to release on April 12. Directed by Robbie Grewal, the film is an espionage drama set in the 1970s.

It was announced in June last year, and was shot in locations across Gujarat, Kashmir and Nepal. The film features Mouni Roy, Sikkander Kher, Jackie Shroff and Suchitra Krishnamoorthy in supporting roles. It is produced by Viacom18 Motion Pictures, KYTA Productions and VA Film Company, and was scheduled for an earlier release.

The movie was originally planned with Sushant Singh Rajput, but the actor had to pull out due to unavoidable circumstances, he said. “I wanted to be a part of the project because I love the story and I believe it’s a story which must be told. However, due to unavoidable circumstances, I won’t be a part of this journey. I wish the producers all the very best for the project,” said the actor in an NDTV report.

RAW marks John Abraham’s first release of the year. The actor had a successful stint at the box office last year with both his movies Paramanu and Satyamev Jayate doing well. The latter had clashed with Akshay Kumar’s Gold which released on the same date – August 15.

Interestingly, the trend will repeat this year with both the actors’ movies – Batla House starring John Abraham and Mission Mangal with Akshay Kumar – releasing again on August 15. They are both inspired by real-life incidents.

Akshay Kumar’s Mission Mangal is about India’s Mars Mission, and features an ensemble cast with Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha, Kriti Kulhari and Nitya Menon. Also starring Sharman Joshi, the movie is directed by Jagan Shakthi.

Batla House is based on the Batla House encounter of 2008. Directed by Nikkhil Advani, the movie features John Abraham and Mrunal Thakur in the lead roles. Prakash Raj and Ravi Kishan have supporting roles.
