Kathir At The 'Zee 5 Tamil Originals' Launch

The first look of Kathir’s new film Jada has been unveiled. The actor thanked Dhanush who released the poster on Twitter.

Directed by debutant Kumaran, Jada is a sports movie. The first look poster shows a jersey-clad Kathir sitting in the ground with a football beside him. The poster also says that the movie is in the final stages of shooting.

Produced by Poet Studios, Jada’s music has been composed by Sam CS. This is Kathir’s second movie announcement in the past week. The actor is also a part of Atlee-Vijay film.

Tentatively titled #Thalapathy63, the movie marks Vijay’s third collaboration with Atlee after Theri and Mersal. Nayanthara plays the female lead. According to a report, Vijay is undergoing physical training under the guidance of a trainer for the role. Vijay is rumoured to be playing a sports coach in the film.

Talking about his association with the project, Kathir said in a TimesNow report, “Even though I’ve known Atlee anna for a while now, we’ve never mixed our personal and professional equations. Recently, Atlee Anna offered me an interesting role in his film. We were in discussion for some time and the team even did a look test. Eventually, I came on board. I have no words to express my excitement. I’ve really admired Vijay anna. I am so happy to be working with him. I really can’t divulge any details about my role, except that it will be an interesting one. I am excited to be a part of #Thalapathy63.”

Kathir, who debuted with the 2013 movie Madha Yaanai Koottam, grabbed people’s attention when he played Vijay Setupati’s brother in the movie Vikram Vedha. Also starring Madhavan, the movie directed by Pushkar Gayathri went onto become a huge hit.

However, it was his performance in last year’s Pariyerum Perumal that won him appreciation. Produced by Pa. Ranjith’s Neelam Productions, the movie was directed by Mari Selvaraj, a former assistant of Ram. Pariyerum Perumal dealt with the caste system in the country. After having been screened at various film festivals, the movie recently won the Best Film award at the Norway Tamil Film Festival.

Sigai, his latest movie where he plays a trans woman, is currently airing on Zee5.
