Earlier this year, Endemol Shine India announced that acclaimed Indian author Amitav Ghosh’s Ibis Trilogy (Sea Of Poppies, River Of Smoke, Flood Of Fury) will be adapted for the screen by filmmaker Shekar Kapur. The Ibis Trilogy is Ghosh’s landmark historical fiction that traces trade between Britain, India and China as well as the opium wars.
Kapur had said that he found it fascinating that the drug trade fuelled Industrial Revolution and that Ghosh’s work brought the emotional journey of opium from India to China to light.
Today, responding to a reader who said that the Ibis Trilogy must be adapted, Ghosh confirmed that the project is indeed on, with his tweet.
It’s happening…! https://t.co/Z2eLIAZtSg
