Bollywood actor Ishaan Khatter will reportedly star in a romantic film, to be produced by director Ali Abbas Zafar, and directed by one of Zafar’s assistants.
The news was reported by Mumbai Mirror recently who quoted a source as saying, “Ishaan and Ali have been discussing the film for a while and things have now fallen into place. Ali loves the script and believes it’s the ideal film to turn producer. He has been involved throughout the scripting process.”
The name of the director and other members of the cast and crew are not known yet. The film is a love story set in Mumbai and is likely to go on floors by the end of this year.
The news comes a day after Ishaan Khatter quit director Vishal Bharadwaj’s upcoming film over creative differences. The film, which was to be their first collaboration, is an official adaptation of Salman Rushdie’s novel ‘Midnight’s Children’. Reports speculate that the director has now approached a newcomer to play the lead.
Ishaan’s upcoming film with Ali Abbas Zafar is his third acting project. He made his acting debut last year with Beyond The Clouds, written and directed by Majid Majidi, co-starring Malayalam actress Malavika Mohanan in the lead. The film starred him as a drug dealer in Mumbai and Malavika played his sister, Tara. It released in August 2018 to good reviews.
Ishaan was then seen in Dhadhak, the Hindi remake of the Marathi film Sairat co-starring Jhanvi Kapoor in the lead. He has previously also worked as an assistant director to Abhishek Chaubey on Udta Punjab and Danish Renzu on Half Widow.
Meanwhile, Ali Abbas Zafar, who recently directed Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif in Bharat, is currently on a break in his hometown in Dehradun. He is reportedly working on multiple scripts, including the third installment of the Tiger franchise starring Salman Khan.
