A source from the team told IANS, “She was officially finalised on Saturday. It’s her return to Telugu cinema after a decade, and she will be seen in the role of a fierce cop. The role will see her demonstrate her Hapkido skills.”

Hapkido is a form of Korean self-defense that employs techniques similar to other martial arts. It also allows the use of traditional weapons like knife, rope, cane, sword etc.

In 2014, Isha Koppikar was appointed the Vice President of  the Hapkido Federation of India. A skilled Hapkido practitioner, Isha Koppikkar is planning to bring professionals from China and Japan to choreograph her action-sequences.

Isha Koppikar was last seen in Telugu film industry in her 2001 film, Prematho Raa. Since then, the actress was largely seen in Hindi films, the last one being Shabri in 2011. The actress has a lot going on for her this year after she signed on her Hindi, Telugu and Kannada comebacks. She will be making her comeback in Bollywood with Assi Nabbe Poorey Sau.

Earlier this year, there were reports that Esha Gupta was being considered for the role. A source from the team clarified that there must have been some confusion with names, since Esha Gupta was never in talks for the role. “We never even considered Esha because we were looking for someone senior for the role,” he said.

This movie was also rumoured to be a sequel to the 2013 Telugu crime-drama Swamy Ra Ra. Dismissing these rumours, the team confirmed that it’s a fresh script and the makers are yet to finalise the title. The movie will commence shooting from next month.

The project is being bankrolled by Abhishek Pictures.
