Irrfan Khan will soon start shoot for Hindi Medium 2 – the sequel to his 2017 hit film. This is his first film after his treatment in London for a neuro-endocrine tumour. He has reportedly returned to Mumbai for the film.

According to TimesNowNews, a source close to the movie said that the costume designers had already started work. “Hindi Medium is going on floors on February 22. Costume Designers have already started looking for Irrfan’s outfits. The leading lady is yet to be decided,” said the source.

Hind Medium, directed by Saket Chaudhary, spoke about a couple trying to get their son admitted in an English Medium school. The movie, a social satire, went on to become a huge hit. It also released in China where it became successful.

Reports emerged early last year that the actor was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Soon, the actor released a statement saying that he had neuro-endocrine tumour, and that it was not related to the brain.

“Learning that I have been diagnosed with neuro-endocrine tumour as of now has admittedly been difficult, but the love and strength of those around me and that I found within me has brought me to a place of hope, The journey of this is taking me out of this country and I request everyone to continue sending in their wishes,” he wrote on Twitter.

His wife wrote, “My best friend and my partner is a warrior. He is fighting every obstacle with tremendous grace and beauty… I want all of you to know I am truly humbled indebted forever for the wishes prayers and concern from all over the world.”

After starting treatment, the actor said, “But I have started believing in the way this condition has tested me, really, really tested me in all aspects — physical, emotional and spiritual. It has put me in a rapture state. Initially, I was shaken. I didn’t know. I was very, very vulnerable. But slowly, there is another way to look at things that is much more powerful and much more productive and much more healthy and I just want people to believe that nature is much more trustworthy and one must trust that.”

Irrfan added that he was living life spontaneously, not reading any scripts. The actor went through four cycles of chemotherapy and after the sixth one, he will have a scan, he said. “And then we’ll see where it takes me.”

The actor was last seen in the 2018 film Karwaan.
